Blue Cats cruise past Black Panthers and reach the Final once again

Blue Cats turned yesterday’s first Semi-Final of the Women’s Championship into a comfortable outing, defeating Black Panthers 61–26 and booking their place in the Grand Final for the third consecutive season.

The Agios Dometios side fully justified their status as favourites and claimed their 13th straight victory of the season in convincing fashion. They now set their sights on repeating the success of the previous two seasons and being crowned champions once again.

On the other hand, Black Panthers were unable to meet the demands of the contest, partly due to the high level set by their opponents, and inevitably suffered defeat. Nevertheless, the overall season for Loui Nikolaou’s team must be considered highly successful, as confirmed by their presence once again among the top four teams in the championship.

Stefani Kile’s team took to the court with a full roster available, and their depth was reflected by the fact that 11 of the 12 players who featured got on the scoresheet. Leading the way was Maria Panagidou with 10 points, followed by Elena Ignatiou with 9, while Maria Giavashi and Dimitra Kosta added 8 each. For the visitors, Stella Theodosiou stood out with 14 points, followed by Ana Quesada and Mikaella Chlorakiotou with 4 each.

Blue Cats and Black Panthers now turn their attention to the Women’s Championship Final Four, which will take place on May 16 at Agios Dometios Indoor Hall. They will learn their opponents for the Grand Final and the Third-Place Game respectively tonight after the conclusion of the second Semi-Final between All’D Stars and ETHA Court Queens.
