ETHA Court Queens celebrated their first-ever appearance in the Grand Final of the Women’s Championship last night after defeating All’D Stars away from home 39–47 and setting up a title clash with Blue Cats on May 16.
Michalis Zakos’ side once again confirmed their steady upward progress and handed All’D Stars a painful home defeat in Larnaca, denying them the chance to compete for this season’s title.
Last night’s game at Evriviadio Gymnasium was highly competitive and was decided in the closing stages, where the visitors showed greater composure and more solutions on the court. Around half a minute before the final buzzer, ETHA led by four points at 39–43.
However, two consecutive baskets from standout performer Elise Buscuet stretched the lead to +8, and despite the hosts’ efforts, 39–47 remained the final score, giving the Queens a famous victory.
MVP for the winners was Elise Buscuet, who scored 21 points, with strong support from Ingrid Akathiotou, who added 10. For Chryssis Themistokleous’ side, Arianna Pittakou stood out with 9 points, while Elena Kalli contributed 8.
Both teams now prepare for the Final Four, which will take place on May 16 at Agios Dometios Indoor Hall. ETHA Court Queens will face Blue Cats in the Grand Final, while All’D Stars will meet Black Panthers in the Third-Place Game.
