Super Trachoni secure huge away win and stand alone at the top

Trachoni achieved their fourth and most significant victory so far in this year’s Championship last night, winning the top-of-the-table derby against Apollon Heat away from home with a score of 81-89, and now enjoy being the sole leaders at the top.

Christodoulos Sophocleous’s team confirmed their great potential last night by defeating the only other previously undefeated team in the Limassol League. They secured the win with clear superiority in all areas throughout the match.

The visitors took the lead from the very first minutes of the game. After creating a small but significant gap, they managed not only to maintain it but also to widen it. At one point, Trachoni’s lead reached +17 (62-79). Although the home team managed to reduce the distance toward the end of the match, the scales had already tipped in favor of the visitors.

The top performers for the winners in last night’s game were Anatoly Kranopolski and Yiannis Hadjimitsos, who scored 27 and 26 points respectively, followed by Alexei Sparivak with 16. For the home team, six players scored in double digits, with Elezov and Kazachanskii carrying the heaviest load with 15 and 13 points respectively.

In the next matchday, after the holidays, Trachoni will host the Red Panda Moufflons, while Apollon Heat will welcome the St. Nicolas Pistols.
