ETHA Queens flirting with the top after victory over Black Panthers

The ETHA Court Queens continued their positive streak, securing their second consecutive win (and 3rd of the season) by defeating the Black Panthers 45-41 last night. With this result, they now share the top of the standings with the Blue Cats, although they have played one more game.

The “Queens” were consistent once again, achieving their goal more comfortably than the final score might suggest. The lead was nearly in double digits (43-34) with just three minutes remaining, though the “Panthers” managed to close the gap in the final stages of the match.

However, at the start of the game, it was the visitors who entered the court more dynamically, leading 8-14 at the end of the first quarter. An immediate response followed from Michalis Zakos’s team, which gradually found its rhythm and took control of the game.

Louis Nikolaou’s team resisted the pressure and managed to bring the difference to a minimum (29-28) just before the end of the 3rd period, turning the match into a derby. But at the start of the final quarter, the home team was much more decisive, pushing the lead back to a safe margin and ultimately celebrating their third win of the season.

ETHA showed great scoring plurality, with Ingrid Akathiotou, Efi Antoniou, and Natia Athanasiou standing out with 11, 10, and 9 points respectively. For the Panthers, Styliani Theodosiou had an outstanding game, scoring half of her team’s points (20), with Ana Ines Quesada as her main supporter with 10 points.
