UNIC Senior Eagles defeat Makedones and set sail for Gold

The UNIC Senior Eagles secured their 5th win of the season (in 6 games) last night, easily overcoming the resistance of Makedones-Dimco with a score of 76-47 and temporarily climbing to the top of the standings in the “Morphou” Division.

The Eagles showed once again that they possess a very good roster with all the potential to reach great heights, while Macedones’ earnest effort to contest the game lasted only for one half.

Indicative of the quality of the University of Nicosia team is the fact that 5 out of the 9 players who played yesterday scored double digits (Tsangarides 19, Peter 16, and Hoiromerides, Teoulides, Papadopoulos with 12 each).

The additions to this year’s roster—George Tsangarides, Alekos Papadopoulos, and George Kouzapas—combined with last year’s strong core and the guidance of George Teoulides, have created a noteworthy team with high prospects and ambitions.

The UNIC team, as already mentioned, has 5 consecutive wins and only one loss, which came in the premiere against EAC. Theoretically, they have a significant lead to secure one of the three tickets leading to the Gold Category, although mathematically it has not been “locked in” yet.

In the 3 remaining matchdays until the end of the First Phase, the Eagles have two difficult derbies (against P&P and Think Colour), with a theoretically easier game against the Old Timers in between. In the event of a victory against P&P next matchday, they will definitively secure their spot, while otherwise, things will become complicated and will depend on the results of other teams.

However, the sample so far is very positive, and it is up to UNIC to maintain this momentum.
