The PN99 team achieved its second victory in this year’s Championship last night, prevailing over the Nicosia Wizards with a resounding 102-33, making it 2 out of 2 for the season and taking an early lead in the “Kyrenia” Region.
The winners of last year’s double, following their win in the premiere against the Moufflons, were fully consistent in their fixture yesterday as well, securing their second consecutive victory, confirming that they will once again be one of the main favorites to win the title this year.
The incredible unbeaten streak of the PN99 team in the Winter Basketball Championship has been ongoing for 20 months, and more specifically since 19/02/2024, when they lost to the EUC Warriors with 72-70 for the 15th matchday of the 2023-2024 season. Since then, there have been 23 Championship games and 5 Cup games, in all of which the Champions were victorious.
The only game in which they were defeated during the intervening period was the 1st Super Cup, when they lost to the then Limassol Champions Limassol Pistols with 65-58, in a match held in Limassol on 23/04/2024.
In any case, PN99’s streak is truly impressive and it will be very interesting to see how much longer it will last and if a team will be found to break it!
