The Blue Cats’ fourth participation in the Nicosia Winter Championship so far bears no resemblance to the previous three. They already count two consecutive wins (both away from Ayios Dhometios), are currently at the top of the Standings along with PN99, and have undoubtedly left even their most demanding fan completely satisfied!
After the dynamic start with a win in the premiere against the Apofoitoi-First Shoot in Pallouriotissa, they secured a second consecutive away win yesterday, this time against the newly-promoted, yet formidable, Basket Bros, prevailing at Falcon with a score of 49-55, demonstrating consistency and continuity in their performance.
Of course, it is too early to draw any safe conclusions about the team’s progress throughout the season, but the mere fact that the “Blue Cats” already have two wins [lit. ‘pink sheets’] in their baggage does not cease to be an ideal start.
An important crash-test for the Ayios Dhometios team will be the next game, where they will play for the first time at home against KEP-Dikefalos Geriou. With a potential third consecutive victory, they will lay very strong foundations for the Silver Category and (why not?) perhaps even higher!
The particularly interesting thing about the Blue Cats team is that they essentially did not have any particularly noteworthy additions to their roster compared to last year; on the contrary, the core remained the same. In any case, so far the Blue Cats are one of the pleasant surprises of the Championship and show all the potential to have a significantly better run compared to last year at least!
