The 11th Panhellenic Veterans Basketball Championship concluded last Sunday night in Piraeus. For the first time, five teams from the Winter Championship participated, representing Cyprus in the event. Based on our teams’ results and the overall presence of the Winter Championship at this year’s Panhellenic event, our performance is considered a complete success.
Our teams competed in 13 games, securing a total of 7 wins. More specifically:
- Our women’s team, with its consistency and commitment to the tournament, secured first place in its category.
- The 35+ team finished second.
- The 40+ team finished fourth.
- The 45+ team finished sixth.
- The 50+ team finished third.
A total of 52 people from Cyprus participated, a very satisfactory number for the first-ever participation of a Cypriot delegation.
A representative from our Referees team, Giannis Migiakis, also joined our mission. We would like to extend our warm thanks to him for being available to serve on the game scorekeeping committees.
At this point, and regardless of the teams’ results, we would like to express our sincere thanks to all our players who participated in the 11th Panhellenic Championship. You made both the Winter Championship and Cyprus proud. You were all wonderful.
We also thank the organizers of “EKA Basketball Nikos Galis,” who hosted this year’s event in Piraeus, for their hospitality, as well as the opposing teams from all over Greece for the healthy competition and for promoting amateur basketball. We wish everyone a great holiday and will see you back on the court at the next Panhellenic event!
