PN99 defeat Warriors and move one step closer to a third straight Championship

PN99 secured their place in a third consecutive Gold Category Grand Final last night, defeating the Warriors 69–57 in the first semifinal and keeping alive their remarkable bid to be crowned champions for the third straight season.

Last year’s double winners earned their victory convincingly, particularly in the second half, where they showed clear superiority. They found solutions on both ends of the court and never allowed the “Warriors” to seriously challenge for the win after halftime.

At the start of the game, Apostolos Memtsoudis’ Warriors caught the hosts off guard, taking an early 8-point lead (2–10). PN99 quickly responded, however, and the first quarter ended 16–16. The second quarter followed a similar pattern, with the two teams going point for point and the Warriors holding a narrow 27–29 halftime lead.

In the second half, though, the momentum shifted decisively. The “purple” side gradually took control of the game, benefiting from key contributions both from the perimeter (Prokopiou, Toumazou) and inside the paint (Chatzivasileiou, Konnafis).

The third quarter ended with the champions ahead 51–43 (+8), and the lead soon expanded to +17 (67–50), effectively putting the game out of reach. The final 69–57 scoreline sent Georgiadis and Konnafis’ team into the Grand Final on March 20 (20:30 – English School).

Leading the way for PN99 were Giannakis Prokopiou with 21 points, Loizos Chatzivasileiou with 17, and Michalis Toumazou with 14. For the Warriors, Haris Spyridou, Paris Agathangelou, and Ilias Lamprakis stood out with 17, 12, and 10 points respectively.

PN99 will learn their final opponent on Friday, following the second semifinal between ESOBGA and Think Colour. Meanwhile, the Warriors have completed their Championship campaign and will now focus on their efforts in the Cup competition.
