The pre-game expectations were confirmed in last night’s matchup in Linopetra, as the St. Nicholas Pistols claimed an away win against Art Eat ENAATH, prevailing 56–69 in the 8th round of the Limassol Championship, while further solidifying their position in 2nd place in the standings.
Giorgos Angonas’ team reached their sixth win of the season more comfortably than the final score suggests, as they controlled the game for most of its duration and gave the hosts very little room to realistically challenge for the win.
The game showed signs of being competitive mainly in the first half, during which the Pistols held the lead, but ENAATH stayed close and showed that they could fight for their first victory of the season.
However, early in the second half the visitors stepped on the gas, raised the tempo, and pushed the margin to as much as +20 (41–61) in the fourth quarter. From that point on, the outcome was effectively decided, with the win going to the team from Agios Nikolaos.
For the winners, three players scored in double figures, led by Minas Mavromoustakos with 13 points, while Giannis Kourtoglou and Nikolas Damianou added 12 points each. For the hosts, once again Makis Pipiros and Alexandros Emmanouilidis stood out with 16 and 14 points respectively, followed by Konstantinos Avgeropoulos with 9.
Next week will be a Cup week, with the Pistols traveling to Nicosia to face First Shoot APOPAL, while ENAATH will have a bye, having been eliminated in the previous round by the Blue Cats.
