Warriors swept through Dali like a whirlwind

A commanding victory for the European University Warriors last night, as they defeated the Famagusta Ballers away from home 51–76, getting off to a winning start in the Second Phase of the Nicosia Championship in the 1st round of the Gold Division.

The “Warriors” were dominant throughout the game at the Idalion Lyceum and never allowed the team from Famagusta to even think about challenging for the win. Apostolos Memtsoudis’ side took control early, building a +17 lead within the first few minutes (3–20 in the 5th minute), clearly showing their intentions from the start.

The Ballers did not give up and tried to fight back, cutting the deficit to 12–20 early in the second quarter, but by halftime the visitors had once again pushed the margin to around +20 (22–42). The same pattern continued in the second half, with the Warriors steadily increasing their advantage, which at one point even reached +38 (26–64).

The large lead, combined with a natural drop in intensity toward the end of the game, allowed the hosts to reduce the margin somewhat, with 51–76 being the final score. With this win, the Warriors temporarily moved to the top of the standings, although two more games are still pending to complete the 1st round, which will obviously change the picture.

All of the visiting players contributed to the scoring, with Charis Spyrou and Nikolas Ioannou standing out with 17 and 14 points respectively. For the home side, Adamos Adamou and Thodoris Apeslidis were the top scorers with 13 and 10 points each.
