After three consecutive losses, Arthouros succeeded last night in securing their first “pink sheet” (victory) of the season, prevailing over the Red Panda Moufflons with a score of 64-62 after a thrilling game.
The match at Episkopi High School yesterday evening had all the characteristics of a derby, with both teams giving their all for the win. In the end, the hosts emerged victorious as they remained more composed during the final stages of the encounter.
The visitors started the game better, leading 21-25 at the end of the first quarter and showing determination for the away win. Gradually, the hosts balanced the game, took a slight lead at halftime (38-34), and by the middle of the 3rd period, they extended it to +7 (43-36).
However, a 6-0 run by Daria Evdokimova’s team brought the difference to just one point (43-42) at the end of the third quarter, turning the match into a thriller. Arthouros players did not lose their composure and built a safe lead again (56-50 in the 37th minute), but the Moufflons responded once more. With a three-pointer by Zakharov, they brought the score to 60-59 with just half a minute remaining!
Stylianoudis, Zenkov, and Vourtsas were called to the free-throw line four times in the final seconds, scoring 1/2 in each instance. Despite a significant three-pointer by Kronitis in between, they ultimately secured the 64-62 victory for Arthouros.
Ajitesh Kumar and Demian Zenkov were the top scorers for the hosts, with 15 points each, while Rihards Kronitis and Viacheslav Lamanov also stood out for the visitors with 15 points each.
