First victory for the Old Timers, battle for Silver entry ignites

Last night, it was the Old Timers’ turn to celebrate their first victory in this year’s Championship, as they prevailed over Makedones-Dimco with an away score of 30-41, simultaneously adding new interest to the battle for entry into the Silver Category in the “Morfou” District.

The team coached by Marios Ioannou, which was the last one that had not tasted the joy of victory until yesterday, played its best game of the season, securing a major away win against Macedones, whom they will now prevail against in case of a tie.

The top performer for the winners was George Georgiou, who scored 13 points, followed by Marios Ioannou with 10. For Macedones, Panagiotis Patzinakos carried most of the load with 10 points.

With this victory by the Old Timers, a three-way tie has emerged at the bottom of the standings, as they are tied with their opponents from yesterday and the Nicosia Municipality team, while the Splash Ballers, who are currently in 7th place, are just 1 point ahead.

Based on the existing league data and the schedule for the last two matchdays, the favorite to advance to the Silver Category is the Splash Ballers, who hold the tie-breaker advantage over both the Old Timers and the Nicosia Municipality.

The match between the Splash Ballers and the Macedones on the final matchday will be crucial, as a victory for the latter would secure their ticket to the Silver Category, provided, of course, that a three-way tie does not occur. In such a case, the outcome will depend on which teams are tied and what the point difference is in their head-to-head matches.
