The ESOBGA team continues its undefeated streak undeterred, securing its 7th win of the season and enjoying sole possession of the top spot in the “Kyrenia” Region. Christos Kyriakides’ team was dominant once again yesterday against the Lawyers’ Association (DSL), whom they defeated with a deafening score of 41-109.
ESOBGA’s victory was more or less predetermined before the tip-off, considering the two teams’ performances so far in the Championship. However, what was impressive was the margin of the score, which marked the largest difference in a game this season and the first time a team broke the 100-point barrier.
ESOBGA’s superiority was evident in all statistical categories, as they dominated on all levels, most notably in rebounds (19 vs 58) and assists (8 vs 40). The difference had already reached huge proportions from the very first quarter, during which the visitors led 30-3, turning the rest of the game into a mere formality.
A great game was played by Nikolas Panagiotou, who added another 33 points to his tally, supported mainly by Makris (24 pts), Papagiannis (19 pts), and Diamantis (17 pts). On the side of the Lawyers (who played without Nikos Tsakonas again yesterday), Dimitris Theodorou carried the most weight (16 pts), followed by Ilias Lampidis (8 pts).
ESOBGA is now focused on the two remaining games before the end of the Regular Season (against Basket Bros and Nicosia Wizards), where they need one victory to lock up first place and focus on finding out their remaining opponents in the Gold Category.
On the other hand, the Lawyers’ Association will definitely need a win in at least one of their last matches (against PN99 and Blue Cats) if they want to qualify for the Silver Category. Difficult, but not impossible.
