Trachoni claimed its second win, defeating last year’s Champion Arthouros 70-54 at home last night, and now shares the top spot in the Limassol League standings with Apollon Heat.
Christodoulos Sofocleous’ team faced stiff resistance from Arthouros, especially in the first half and early in the second, but from the middle of the 3rd period onwards, they picked up the pace, took the lead, and managed to secure another victory in the end.
The leading scorers for Trachoni were Kranopolski (21 pts), Hatzimitsos (15 pts), and Sparivak (13 pts), while for Arthouros, Demian Zenkov carried most of the load with 24 points.
The matches for the next fixture will be important, with Trachoni hosting ENAATH and Arthouros playing away against the St. Nicholas Pistols.
The Pistols team celebrated their first smiles of the season, claiming their first victory last night by defeating Red Panda Moufflons 60-51, moving up to third place alongside their opponents.
Giorgos Aggonas’ team appeared improved compared to the premiere and achieved success by taking the lead early and controlling the game throughout. Their lead reached up to +17 at one point in the second half, with the officially home team Moufflons only managing to cut the difference towards the end of the game.
Standing out for the winners were the team’s new additions this year, Nicolas Damianou and Andrei Shirkin, with 17 and 14 points respectively, while for the defeated side, Konstantin Evdokimov was the top scorer with 13.
In the next fixture, the Pistols will host Arthouros, while the Moufflons will welcome Apollon Heat.
