Το αήττητο σερί τους συνέχισαν και χθες βράδυ οι Limassol Pistols, οι οποίοι “καθάρισαν” άλλο ένα δύσκολο αγώνα, κερδίζοντας για 2η φορά φέτος την Omega με 72-55, πήραν το 6ο συνεχόμενο ροζ φύλλο αγώνος και στρογγυλοκάθισαν στην κορυφή της Βαθμολογίας με 12 βαθμούς. Για τους φιλοξενούμενους, η χθεσινή ήταν η 2η ήττα από τον ίδιο αντίπαλο και σε συνδυασμό με την προχθεσινή νίκη της Apollon Heat, έπεσαν στην 3η θέση του βαθμολογικού πίνακα.
Ο αγώνας στο Γυμνάσιο Ζακακίου χθες βράδυ βρήκε τις 2 ομάδες να μπαίνουν αμφότερες δυνατά στην αναμέτρηση και να συμβαδίζουν στο σκορ. Η πρώτη περίοδος έληξε με 15-15 και όλα έδειχναν ότι το παιγνίδι θα εξελισσόταν σε ντέρμπι για γερά νεύρα. Αντίθετη άποψη όμως είχαν οι παίκτες των Pistols, οι οποίοι στην 2η περίοδο έκαναν ουσιαστικά το παιγνίδι δικό τους. Με ένα εκπληκτικό σερί 24-6, εκτόξευσαν τη διαφορά στο +18 (39-21) και η πλάστιγγα άρχισε σιγά-σιγά να γέρνει προς την μεριά των γηπεδούχων.
Στην επανάληψη, οι φιλοξενούμενοι προσπάθησαν να επανέλθουν στην διεκδίκηση του αγώνα, όμως τα “πιστόλια” δεν έδειχναν διατεθειμένα να αφήσουν το παιγνίδι να χαθεί από τα χέρια τους. Με σωστή διαχείριση, κράτησαν γερά το προβάδισμά τους στην 3η περίοδο η οποία έκλεισε με το σκορ στο 52-33 και στην τελευταία απλά σφράγισαν την νέα νίκη τους με τον ηλεκτρονικό πίνακα να γράφει στο τέλος το 72-55.
Πρώτος σκόρερ για την ομάδα του Τάσου Βάσιου ήταν ο Λευτέρης Τριανταφύλλου με 16 πόντους και τον ακολούθησε ο Νεόφυτος Στύλλας με 14 και οι Γιώργος Άγγονας και Ιωσήφ Μπιτσίμης με 12 έκαστος. Από πλευράς OMEGA, ο MVP της ομάδας ήταν ο Andrei Shirkin ο οποίος σημείωσε 25 πόντους, με βασικούς συμπαραστάτες τους Dmitriy Nefedchenko και Alexei Sparivak με 9 πόντους ο καθένας. Την επόμενη αγωνιστική, οι Limassol Pistols θα αγωνιστούν εκτός έδρας με την Apollon Heat, ενώ η Omega θα φιλοξενήσει την Καθολική.
The unstoppable Limassol Pistols won the derby against Omega
Their unbeaten streak continued last night for the Limassol Pistols, who “cleaned up” another tough match, defeating Omega for the second time this season with a score of 72-55. This secured their 6th consecutive victory and propelled them to the top of the standings with 12 points. For the visitors, it was their 2nd defeat against the same opponent, and combined with Apollon Heat’s win the day before, they fell to 3rd place in the standings.
The match at Zakakiou Gymnasium last night saw both teams coming in strong, matching each other in score. The first period ended tied at 15-15, indicating a tightly contested game ahead. However, the Pistols had a different idea. In the second period, they took control of the game. With an impressive 24-6 run, they surged ahead to a +18 lead (39-21), shifting momentum in their favor.
In the second half, the visitors tried to claw their way back into the game, but the Pistols were determined not to let the game slip away. With solid management, they maintained their lead in the third period, which ended with a score of 52-33. In the final period, they simply sealed their new victory, with the electronic scoreboard reading 72-55 at the end.
Leading scorer for Tassos Vassios’ team was Lefteris Triantafyllou with 16 points, followed by Neofytos Styllas with 14, and Georgos Aggonas and Iosif Bitsimis with 12 each. For OMEGA, the team’s MVP was Andrei Shirkin, who scored 25 points, with Dmitriy Nefedchenko and Alexei Sparivak as their main supporters, each with 9 points. In the next match, the Limassol Pistols will play away against Apollon Heat, while Omega will host Κatholiκι.
