PN99 fully lived up to expectations last night, securing an emphatic away win against First Shoot APOPAL with a 43–74 victory in the game that opened the Cup Quarterfinals.
The reigning champions, who showed no signs of being affected by the recent celebrations of their third consecutive title, remained focused and comfortably advanced to the semi-finals against the depleted “Graduates”, who were limited to just seven players and had several key absentees (A. Fotiou, Pelekanos, Konstantinidis, Siakallis, among others).
The outcome was essentially decided in the first half, with PN99 already leading by +18 (20–38) at the break, turning the second half into a mere formality. The hosts attempted to respond early in the second half, but without significantly affecting the scoreline, which widened even further in the final quarter to reach the final 43–74.
For the winners, who played without Georgiades and Chatzivasileiou, Stavros Antoniou stood out with 14 points, followed by Prokopiou, Grigoriadis and Konnafis with 11 points each. For the team coached by Antonis Assiikkalis, Giorgos Panagiotou led the scoring with 14 points, followed by Voniatis and Ilias with 8 and 7 points respectively.
PN99 will find out their semi-final opponent tonight after the conclusion of the match between Think Colour and EAK. As for First Shoot APOPAL, this was their final game of the season. We sincerely thank them for the excellent cooperation and look forward to seeing them back even stronger next year.
