PN99 crowned Gold Champions for the 2025–2026 season!

PN99 once again proved their dominance, capturing the Gold Championship of the Nicosia Winter League after defeating ESOBGA 73–61 in last night’s Grand Final. This victory marks their third consecutive title, further establishing a new dynasty in Cypriot amateur basketball.

The team led by Alexis Georgiadis deservedly reached another championship, as they controlled the game on all fronts and never allowed ESOBGA to seriously challenge for the win.

Relying on a strong defensive approach—primarily zone defense, occasionally switching to man-to-man—and significantly better perimeter production, PN99 consistently had the answers against their opponents. This was despite ESOBGA’s strength in the paint with Makris and Kaskiris, as well as the temporary limitation of Chatzivasileiou due to foul trouble.

Throughout most of the game, the champions maintained a steady lead, successfully neutralising every attempt by ESOBGA to close the gap. A crucial three-pointer by Michalis Toumazou with a minute and a half remaining extended the lead to +16 (55–71), effectively sealing the outcome.

Top performers for PN99 were Michalis Toumazou with 21 points and Giannakis Prokopiou with 20, while Alexis Georgiadis added 13. For ESOBGA, Tolis Kaskiris and Dimitris Makris led the scoring with 16 and 13 points respectively, followed by Kypros Dimitriou with 8.

Congratulations to PN99 for their fully deserved third consecutive title, and also to ESOBGA for their outstanding performance throughout the season. Both teams still have commitments ahead, as they will compete in the Cup matches next week.
