The Cyprus Sports Journalists Association (EAK) celebrated last night the title of Silver Division Champions for the 2025–2026 season, after defeating First Shoot APOPAL 62–55 in a thrilling Grand Final that lived up to expectations.
The two teams battled until the very end, but it was the side coached by Voris Karagiannis that had the final say, overturning the game in the decisive fourth quarter, building a safe lead and maintaining it until the final buzzer.
The game had a completely different picture in its early stages, as First Shoot appeared more comfortable on the court of the English School, especially in the opening period, which they led 10–15. However, in the second quarter, EAK gradually balanced the game, with the two teams going into halftime tied at 28–28.
In the third quarter, the finalists remained neck-and-neck for most of the period, with neither side able to create a significant gap, and the visitors closing the quarter ahead 40–44. The game, however, turned dramatically in the final period, when EAK came out strongly, went on a decisive 15–2 run, and took full control, leading by nine points (55–46) with three minutes remaining.
Despite the determined efforts of First Shoot to fight back, EAK had the answers in every situation, and the final score of 62–55 sealed both the victory and the title.
Top performer for the winners was Giorgos Neofytou with 20 points, followed by Giorgos Konstantinou with 16. For First Shoot, Andreas Fotiou led the scoring with 14 points, supported by Petros Fotiou with 10.
Warm congratulations to EAK for their fully deserved title, as well as to First Shoot APOPAL for their commendable performance in the Grand Final. Both teams still have commitments to complete this season, as they will compete in the Cup Quarter-Finals next week.
