Nicosia Municipality will be the second finalist of the Bronze Category Grand Final, after defeating the Moufflons 64–57 in last night’s semifinal and securing a place in Monday’s big showdown against the Nicosia Bar Association.
The team coached by Igor Gavrilovic lived up to expectations, making full use of their home-court advantage and eventually overcoming the determined resistance of the competitive Moufflons to claim the coveted ticket to the final.
The semifinal, played at Egkomi Gymnasium, was marked by great intensity and determination from both sides, with the two teams battling hard for the win. The hosts held the lead for most of the game, although it remained within single-digit margins, while Lambros Stylianou’s team repeatedly managed to close the gap and stay within striking distance.
In the fourth and decisive quarter, Nicosia Municipality managed to maintain a 5–7 point lead. Despite the persistent efforts of the Moufflons to get closer and challenge for the win, the hosts held firm until the final buzzer, celebrating both the victory and qualification.
For the winners, Iordanis Aloupas and Marios Menoikou stood out with 15 and 13 points respectively. For the visitors, Walid El Adas led the scoring with 12 points, followed by Nemanja Bjedov and Marios Vienas with 10 points each.
Nicosia Municipality will now prepare for the Grand Final next Monday (20:30, English School), where they will face the Nicosia Bar Association.
For the Moufflons, this match marked their final appearance of the season. We thank them for the excellent cooperation and hope to see them again in the championship starting next October.
