The ETHA Court Queens and WNBA continued their strong runs in the Women’s Championship with important away victories, defeating the Black Panthers and Dikefalos Geriou Angels respectively in the 12th round of the competition.
In the earlier game, WNBA secured a crucial win—their third of the season—after defeating Dikefalos Geriou Angels 36–44. The victory was particularly important as they also overturned the point difference from their first-round defeat at home, giving them the advantage in the event of a tie in the standings.
Marios Anaxagorou’s team essentially sealed the win in the final quarter, as until then the two sides had been closely matched and the lead had changed hands seven times. In the fourth quarter, however, the visitors were more efficient offensively, limited their mistakes, and ultimately secured a valuable victory.
Sofia Cheimonettou and Marianna Karachanna led the way for WNBA with 13 points each, followed by Thea Theologou with 9. For the hosts, Zina Gartzolaki delivered a standout performance with 17 points, while Stavri Christodoulou and Marcia Trillidou added 6 and 5 points respectively.
In the second game of the evening, the ETHA Queens claimed an emphatic 20–39 away win over the Black Panthers at the Agios Vasileios Gym, temporarily climbing to second place in the standings (although they have played two more games than the trailing All’D Stars).
Michalis Zakos’ team comfortably secured their sixth win of the season, capitalizing on their own strengths as well as the hosts’ weaknesses. The Black Panthers experienced several long scoring droughts, most notably in the third quarter, during which they failed to score a single point.
Despite the large margin in the final score, the first half had suggested a much closer contest, with both teams remaining relatively close on the scoreboard. Possibly due to fatigue, the Panthers, who entered the game with only six players, were unable to keep up with ETHA’s pace as the gap gradually widened.
The standout performer for the ETHA Queens was Elise Buscuet with 14 points, followed by Ioanna Kritiotou with 6. For the hosts, Stella Theodosiou and Chrystalleni Sokratous were the leading scorers with 7 and 6 points respectively.
