Trachoni and Apollon Heat both recorded victories in the Limassol Championship, defeating Art Eat ENAATH and Red Panda Moufflons respectively in the context of the 9th round of the competition. Christodoulos Sofokleous’ team has already secured first place in the Regular Season standings, regardless of the remaining results, while ENAATH will finish sixth.
The undefeated league leaders Trachoni had a difficult night on Monday against ENAATH and had to push hard to secure the win. They eventually claimed the 61–65 away victory in the closing stages of the game. The hosts came very close to pulling off a major upset, as they held the lead for most of the match, only losing it in the final two minutes—along with their chance to earn their first win of the season.
For the winners, Giannis Chatzimitsos led the scoring with 27 points, followed by Anatoly Kranopolski with 17. For the hosts, Makis Pipyros delivered a strong performance with 20 points, supported by Alexandros Emmanouilidis and Konstantinos Avgeropoulos, who scored 12 and 10 points respectively.
In Tuesday’s game at the Agios Ioannis Lyceum, Apollon Heat had little trouble securing their fifth win of the season, defeating the Red Panda Moufflons convincingly 80–57. With this victory, Heat are guaranteed to finish inside the top four, though their exact position is still undecided, as matches involving the other two teams in the group (Pistols and Arthouros) are still pending. The Moufflons, meanwhile, are confirmed to finish fifth.
The match unfolded ideally for the hosts, who capitalized on both their home-court advantage and superior quality, taking the lead early and steadily extending it throughout the game, preventing Dasha Evdokimova’s team from mounting a serious challenge.
A clear sign of the hosts’ offensive depth was that five players reached double figures in scoring and every player on the roster scored. The top scorers were Dmitry Pichugin with 16 points and Aleksandr Kazachanskii with 15. For the visitors—who also had all their players score—Konstantin Evdokimov and Rihards Kronitis stood out with 15 points each.
