The Cyprus Sports Journalists Association (EAK) secured an important away victory last night in Pallouriotissa, defeating First Shoot APOPAL 47–54. As a result, the top three positions of the Silver Category are now mathematically confirmed, regardless of the remaining results needed to complete Round 7.
Following last night’s outcome, EAK will officially finish 1st, UNIC Senior Eagles will take 2nd place, and First Shoot APOPAL will finish 3rd. The final playoff spot will be decided between the Nicosia Wizards and the Blue Cats.
In the Semifinals, EAK will host the team that finishes in 4th place, while the UNIC Senior Eagles will face First Shoot APOPAL (09/03 – Agios Dometios Indoor Hall – 20:45).
In yesterday’s game, the hosts started stronger, leading 16–9 at the end of the first quarter. However, Vori Karagiannis’ side quickly restored balance and managed to cut the deficit to just a single basket by halftime (22–20).
In the second half, the Journalists’ comeback continued as they gradually regained full control of the game, building a safe lead which they maintained until the final buzzer, despite efforts from Antonis Assiikkalis’ team to mount a comeback.
Top scorers for the winners were Ioannis Gianni with 16 points and Paraskevas Antoniou with 14. For the hosts, Andreas Fotiou stood out once again with 19 points, followed by Panagiotou and Stevanovic, who added 6 points each.
