Η ομάδα των Limassol Pistols είναι από χθες βράδυ η Πρωταθλήτρια ομάδα του Χειμερινού Πρωταθλήματος Λεμεσού, καθώς κέρδισε στον Μεγάλο Τελικό της πόλης την ομάδα της Omega με 75-58 κατακτώντας τον πρώτο (και ιστορικό) τίτλο της συγκεκριμένης διοργάνωσης. Η ομάδα του Γιώργου Άγγονα έφτασε πανάξια στην κατάκτηση του Πρωταθλήματος, καθώς πραγματοποιήσε κυριολεκτικά αψεγάδιαστη πορεία κερδίζοντας όλους τους αγώνες που έδωσε τόσο στην Κανονική Περίοδο, όσο και στα πλέι-οφ και δικαίως πανηγυρίζει από χθες την μεγάλη επιτυχία της.
Ο χθεσινός Μεγάλος Τελικός της Λεμεσού, ο οποίος διοργανώθηκε στο 3ο Λύκειο Αγίου Ιωάννη και μεταδόθηκε ζωντανά από τη σελίδα μας στο Facebook, ήταν ουσιαστικά μία επιβεβαίωση της όλης παρουσίας των 2 ομάδων στην φετινή σεζόν. Η μεν ομάδα της Omega προσπάθησε και μέχρι ενός σημείου τα κατάφερε να αναδείξει τα αθλητικά προσόντα των παικτών της (ταχύτητα, αλτικότητα, αντοχές), οι δε Limassol Pistols όμως υπερίσχυσαν στο ποιοτικό κομμάτι επικρατώντας πρωτίστως στην άμυνα και παράλληλα στο οργανωμένο παιγνίδι στην επίθεση.
Για ένα αρκετά μεγάλο διάστημα οι 2 μονομάχοι συμβάδιζαν στο σκορ με το προβάδισμα να βρίσκεται κυρίως στα χέρια των τυπικά γηπεδούχων, οι οποίοι έδειχναν να πατούν καλύτερα στο γήπεδο και να ξέρουν τι ζητούν και πώς να το πετύχουν. Το πρώτο δεκάλεπτο βρήκε την ομάδα των Pistols να προηγείται με 13-11 και στο ημίχρονο το προβάδισμα να μεγαλώνει ελαφρώς φτάνοντας στο 28-23. Καθοριστική για την εξέλιξη του παιγνιδιού ήταν η 3η περίοδος και κυρίως το ξεκίνημα της 4ης, διάστημα κατά το οποίο οι παίκτες του Γιώργου Άγγονα ανέβασαν την διαφορά ακόμα και στο +19 σε κάποια στιγμή.
Οι παίκτες του Vladimir Golenkov προσπάθησαν στο τέλος να κάνουν το ολικό come-back καταφέρνοντας να μειώσουν την απόσταση σε μονοψήφια επίπεδα, όμως στα τελευταία λεπτά οι Limassol Pistols διατήρησαν την ψυχραιμία τους, δεν πανικοβλήθηκαν και στο τέλος αποκατέστησαν την τάξη, φτάνοντας στην μεγάλη νίκη. MVP για τους νικητές ήταν ο Λευτέρης Τριανταφύλλου, ο οποίος σημείωσε 19 πόντους και τον ακολούθησαν ο Νεόφυτος Στύλλας με 14 και ο Ιωσήφ Μπιτσίμης με 10. Από την ομάδα της Omega ξεχώρισε ο Vladimir Golenkov με 17 πόντους, με συμπαραστάτες τους Alexei Sparivak και Dmitriy Nefedchenko με 11 έκαστος.
Αξίζουν θερμά συγχαρητήρια στους Limassol Pistols για την δίκαιη κατάκτηση του τίτλου του Πρωταθλητή, αλλά και στην ομάδα της Omega τόσο για την χθεσινή εμφάνισή της στον Τελικό, όσο και για την όλη παρουσία της στην διοργάνωση. Πλέον, οι Limassol Pistols, ως Πρωταθλητές Λεμεσού θα αγωνιστούν απέναντι στην Πρωταθλήτρια Λευκωσίας, ΡΝ99, για το Super Cup που θα διοργανωθεί στη Λεμεσό την ερχόμενη Τρίτη. Στους φίλους της Omega ευχόμαστε καλές διακοπές και αναμένουμε ότι θα τους έχουμε ξανά μαζί μας στην επόμενη διοργάνωση ακόμη πιο δυνατούς!
The Limassol Pistols are this year’s Limassol Champions!
The Limassol Pistols team is since last night the Champion team of the Limassol Winter Championship, as they won the Grand Final of the city against Omega with 75-58, winning the first (and historic) title of the event. The team of George Aggonas reached the championship with flying colors, as they literally made a flawless run by winning all the games they played in both the Regular Season and the playoffs and rightfully celebrates their great success since yesterday.
Yesterday’s Limassol Grand Final, which was held at the 3rd Agios Ioannis High School and was broadcast live on our Facebook page, was essentially a confirmation of the entire performance of the 2 teams this season. The Omega team tried and to a certain extent succeeded in showing off the athletic qualities of their players (speed, agility, stamina), while the Limassol Pistols excelled in the qualitative part, prevailing first and foremost in defense and at the same time in organized play on offense.
For quite a long time the 2 gladiators were tied on the scoreboard with the lead being mainly in the hands of the typical hosts, who seemed to be better on the court and knew what they were looking for and how to achieve it. The first quarter found the Pistols leading 13-11 and at half time the lead grew slightly to 28-23. The 3rd quarter and especially the beginning of the 4th quarter was decisive for the development of the game, a period during which the players of Giorgos Aggonas even increased the difference to +19 at one point.
Vladimir Golenkov’s players tried to make a total comeback at the end, managing to reduce the gap to single digits, but in the last minutes the Limassol Pistols kept their composure, didn’t panic and in the end restored order, reaching the big win. MVP for the winners was Lefteris Triantafyllou, who scored 19 points, followed by Neophytos Styllas with 14 and Joseph Bitsimis with 10. For Omega, Vladimir Golenkov stood out with 17 points, with Alexei Sparivak and Dmitriy Nefedchenko with 11 each.
Congratulations are due to Limassol Pistols for winning the Champion’s title, but also to the Omega team both for their performance in the Final last night and for their overall presence in the event. Now, Limassol Pistols, as Limassol Champions, will play against Nicosia Champions, PN99, for the Super Cup to be held in Limassol next Tuesday. We wish our Omega friends a happy holiday and we look forward to having them back with us for the next event even stronger!
