Συνέχεια στα νικηφόρα αποτελέσματα στο Πρωτάθλημα Λεμεσού για την ομάδα της Omega, η οποία κέρδισε για 2η φορά φέτος τους Moufflons με 68-80, σημείωσε την 6η της νίκη στη διοργάνωση και διατηρήθηκε στην 2η θέση της Βαθμολογίας με 14 βαθμούς. Για τους Moufflons από την άλλη, η χθεσινή ήταν η 2η διαδοχική ήττα (5η συνολικά), η οποία την ανέβασε προσωρινά στην 3η θέση του βαθμολογικού πίνακα εν αναμονή του αποτελέσματος του αποψινού αγώνα ανάμεσα στην Katholiki και την Apollon Heat.
Ο χθεσινοβραδυνός αγώνας στο 3ο Λύκειο Αγίου Ιωάννη είχε έντονο ενδιαφέρον κυρίως στο Α’ ημίχρονο, διάστημα κατά το οποίο οι 2 ομάδες έδειχναν να επιζητούν εξίσου δυναμικά αμφότερες την νίκη. Η πρώτη περίοδος έληξε με τους τυπικά φιλοξενούμενους να προηγούνται με 12-20, με το τέλος του ημιχρόνου όμως οι γηπεδούχοι μείωσαν την απόσταση στο -3 (37-40) και έδειχναν ότι θα μπορούσαν να φτάσουν στο 5ο τους ροζ φύλλο αγώνος.
Στην επανάληψη όμως οι παίκτες της Omega, έδειχναν να πατούν καλύτερα στο γήπεδο και να βρίσκουν περισσότερες λύσεις στην επίθεση, εν αντιθέσει με τους Moufflons που άρχισαν να μένουν από δυνάμεις. Η 3η περίοδος έληξε με το σκορ στο 55-65 και με την πάροδο του χρόνου γινόταν πλέον δεδομένο ότι η νίκη θα κατέληγε στα χέρια της Omega, κάτι που τελικά επιβεβαιώθηκε με τον δείκτη του σκορ να ανεβαίνει σε αρκετά ψηλά επίπεδα (άγγιξε και το +19 κάποια στιγμή). Το τελικό σφύριγμα βρήκε τον ηλεκτρονικό πίνακα να αναγράφει το 68-80 και τους τυπικά φιλοξενούμενους να πανηγυρίζουν άλλη μία νίκη στη σεζόν.
Κουρφαίοι από τους νικητές οι Alexei Sparivak και Andrei Shirkin, οι οποίοι σημείωσαν αμφότεροι από 20 πόντους και τους ακολούθησε ο Dmitriy Nefedchenko με 12. Από τους Moufflons ξεχώρισαν ο Konstantin Evdokimov και ο Petr Gordev, οι οποίοι σκόραραν από 18 πόντους έκαστος, με κύριο συμπαραστάτη τον Andrei Bulat με 13. Την επόμενη αγωνιστική η Omega θα κοντραριστεί με την Apollon Heat στο ντέρμπι της 2ης θέσης, ενώ οι Moufflons θα αγωνιστούν εκτός έδρας με τους πρωτοπόρους Limassol Pistols.
Another victory for Omega against the Moufflons
Continuing their victorious streak in the Limassol League, Omega’s team secured their 6th win of the season by defeating the Moufflons for the 2nd time, with a score of 68-80. This victory maintained Omega’s position at 2nd place in the standings with 14 points. On the other hand, it was the 2nd consecutive defeat for the Moufflons (5th overall), temporarily placing them at 3rd position pending the outcome of the match between Katholiki and Apollon Heat tonight.
The game, held last night at the 3rd Lyceum of Agios Ioannis, garnered intense interest especially in the first half, during which both teams seemed equally determined to win. The first period ended with the visitors leading 12-20, but by halftime, the home team managed to narrow the gap to -3 (37-40), showing potential for a comeback.
However, in the second half, Omega’s players seemed to dominate the court better, finding more solutions in attack, unlike the Moufflons who began to lose steam. The third period ended with a score of 55-65, and it became increasingly evident that Omega would clinch the victory, which was confirmed as the score difference widened significantly (reaching up to +19 at some point). The final whistle blew with the electronic scoreboard displaying 68-80, and the visitors officially celebrating another win this season.
Standout performers from Omega were Alexei Sparivak and Andrei Shirkin, both scoring over 20 points, followed by Dmitriy Nefedchenko with 12 points. For the Moufflons, Konstantin Evdokimov and Petr Gordev stood out, each scoring 18 points, supported by Andrei Bulat with 13 points. In the next match, Omega will face Apollon Heat in a derby for the 2nd place, while the Moufflons will play away against the league leaders, Limassol Pistols.
