Πρώτη νίκη στο Πρωτάθλημα Λεμεσού για την ομάδα της OMEGA, η οποία πέρασε σαν σίφουνας χθες βράδυ από το Γυμνάσιο Επισκοπής κερδίζοντας την Art Eat Katholiki BC με 31-74 και ανέβηκε στην 3η θέση της Βαθμολογίας παρέα με τους Apollon Heat, από τους οποίους υπερτερεί στην ισοβαθμία λόγω καλύτερου συντελεστή πόντων. Για την ομάδα της Καθολικής από την άλλη, αυτή ήταν η 2η ήττα στη διοργάνωση και μάλιστα με σεβαστή διαφορά, η οποία όμως δημιουργήθηκε κυρίως στην τελευταία περίοδο, ενδεχομένως και λόγω κόπωσης.
Το ξεκίνημα της χθεσινής αναμέτρησης, η οποία ήταν και η τελευταία στο πλαίσιο της 2ης αγωνιστικής, δεν προμήνυε ότι θα είχε στο τέλος τόσο μεγάλο εύρος νίκης για τους φιλοξενούμενους. Η 1η περίοδος βρήκε την ομάδα της OMEGA μπροστά στο σκορ με 9-11 και η λεπτή αυτή ισορροπία συνχίστηκε μέχρι και τα μισά της 2ης περιόδου. Από εκείνο το σημείο και μετά όμως οι φιλοξενούμενοι άρχισαν να επιβάλλουν τον ρυθμό τους και προηγήθηκαν στη λήξη του ημιχρόνου σχεδόν με double-score (16-30).
Στην επανάληψη, η ομάδα του Αντώνη Τσαρδούλια προσπάθησε να ισορροπήσει κάπως τα δεδομένα και να μην αφήσει το σκορ να ξεφύγει και ως ένα βαθμό το πέτυχε, δεδομένου ότι η 3η περίοδος έληξε με 27-43. Η 4η και τελευταία περίοδος όμως ανήκε ολοκληρωτικά στην OMEGA, η οποία κυριολεκτικά έκανε ό,τι ήθελε στο γήπεδο και με επιμέρους σκορ 31-4 εκτόξευσε τη διαφορά σε πολύ υψηλά επίπεδα με τον ηλεκτρονικό πίνακα στο τέλος να γράφει το τελικό 31-74.
MVP για την ομάδα της OMEGA ήταν ο Dmitriy Nefedchenko ο οποίος σημείωσε double-double με 23 πόντους και 11 ριμπάουντ και είχε ως κύριους συμπαραστάτες τον Sergey Tretyakov με 18 πόντους και τον Vladimir Golenkov με 12. Από τους γηπεδούχους πρώτος σκόρερ ήταν οι Νίκος Μπάλλας και Στέφανος Ευρυπίδου με 8 πόντους έκαστος και τους ακολούθησε ο Αντώνης Τσαρδούλιας με 5. Την επόμενη αγωνιστική η Καθολική θα φιλοξενήσει τους Limassol Pistols, ενώ η OMEGA θα αγωνιστεί εναντίον της Αρθούρος Καλαθόσφαιρα.

First victory in the Limassol Championship for the OMEGA team, which swept through like a hurricane last night at the Episkopi Gymnasium, defeating Art Eat Katholiki BC with a score of 31-74 and climbing to the 3rd position in the standings alongside Apollon Heat, whom they surpass in the tiebreaker due to a better points differential. For the Katholiki team, on the other hand, this was their 2nd defeat in the competition, and it was a significant one, possibly due to fatigue, especially in the final period.
The start of yesterday’s match, the last one in the context of the 2nd round, did not indicate that it would end with such a large margin of victory for the visitors. The first quarter found the OMEGA team ahead with a score of 9-11, and this narrow balance persisted until midway through the 2nd period. From that point onward, however, the visitors began to impose their pace and led at halftime by almost double the score (16-30).
In the second half, Antonis Tsardoulias’ team tried to somewhat balance the game and prevent the score from getting out of hand, to some extent succeeding, as the 3rd period ended with a score of 27-43. However, the 4th and final period belonged entirely to OMEGA, which literally did whatever they wanted on the court, outscoring their opponents 31-4 and catapulting the lead to very high levels. The electronic scoreboard at the end showed the final score as 31-74.
The MVP for the OMEGA team was Dmitriy Nefedchenko, who recorded a double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds, supported by Sergey Tretyakov with 18 points and Vladimir Golenkov with 12. For the hosts, the top scorers were Nikos Ballas and Stefanos Eurypidou with 8 points each, followed by Antonis Tsardoulias with 5. In the next round, Katholiki will host the Limassol Pistols, while OMEGA will face Arthuros Basketball.
